To avoid big issues, you can install an alarm. You should have one anyway, but this will keep most vandals from doing more than breaking a window. They will generally take off if the alarm starts blaring and this will alert the entire neighbourhood that your business is being attacked.

The grille also provides the opportunity to slow vandals down so they can be captured on video or even caught by the police.
