How to Improve the Access Points of Your Gated Community

Shuretech • 17 August 2023

If you manage a gated community, it’s vital the security of the site is high. You have a responsibility to keep residents safe and control who accesses the area. This process should be seamless for residents and authorised visitors but impossible for trespassers and criminals. Do you do all it takes to keep security measures high?

If you’re looking for ways to improve the security of your gated community, here are a few tips.

Secure Access Points

In order to control the people that gain access to the gated community, all access points need to be secure. A property manager should focus on two main security access points, the vehicle gates and the pedestrian gates.

Vehicle Gates

A vehicle access point will have the highest amount of traffic every day. Options to keep this access point secure include using a full-time security officer, monitored surveillance cameras, aluminium gates and keypads. As a minimum security measure, all gated entrances need to be controlled by some sort of restricted access device such as a key fob, number pad or remote control system. You can also consider adding automated barriers, speed bumps or tire spikes. These measures will help ensure the wrong people can’t gain access. Aluminium electric gates are ideal for keeping many properties safe so can ensure your gated community is safe from intruders.

If you want to ensure maximum security, a full-time security officer is best. This protects the community from dangers that might emerge during a power cut or an intruder being able to bypass other security equipment. A trained security officer will be the best defence against intruders.

Pedestrian Gates

Pedestrian access points can be secured with gates fitted with lock and key, key fobs or a keypad system. You can also find security gates that send out alerts when it is left open too long. Other security equipment such as surveillance cameras and CCTV is also a good idea.
