Five Reasons to Use Turnstiles in Your Place of Business

Shuretech • 6 December 2019
Turnstiles have become more commonplace in many businesses. They are an excellent way to provide access control and can be used in nearly any setting. Here are a few more reasons to add turnstiles to your business.

1. Increase Your Security
With a door, it’s possible for someone to come in or out by walking very close to the person who is authorized to move through the access door. Turnstiles prevent this, because they only allow one person to move through and are only used for moving in one direction. These make it possible to screen each and every person entering the building.

2. Auto-screen Members
If you set up your turnstiles to allow only members to enter the place of business, you eliminate the need to physically check in each person. Everyone who has frequent access will use a card that has a code, magnetic strip, or RFID chip to make it simple to move through the gates.

3. Visually Repel Criminals
Burglars will tend to go for easy pickings. This means businesses that are protected with security cameras and other security systems such as turnstiles are a deterrent. Just the sight of the turnstiles will reduce the possibility of criminals entering the space.

4. Build Trust in Your Company
Businesses that provide security measures like turnstiles are far more likely to be respected and trusted. People know that a company that protects itself and its members is one that can be trusted. Installing turnstiles shows you are willing to invest in security. This is obviously more important in some industries than others, but a little security is never a bad idea.

5. Track Who is Coming and Going
When you use cards and turnstiles, it’s very easy to collect all the necessary data to track which employees are coming and going and at what time. You can always check on when a specific person arrived, as well. Your employee records will be high quality and useful for understanding how your employees behave.
Turnstiles may look simple, but they can be quite complex and provide you with more than just slower moving lines. When you let people move through with a token or card, you make it possible to track user statistics. This, in turn, can be used later for more in depth examinations of how efficient your system is.
